My first writing happened just last year. Before I enter the courage, my life was nearly far from writing. To create a "new" thing seemed to be too difficult, never entered my head. If I liked to read novels or essays, it could be easier to start writing but I prefer to read analytic articles, such as criticism or review. So, in these circumstances, I registered for "Essay Writing".
The class had a writing homework every week and I made efforts sincerely. As professor guided, I made a structure, wrote them in order of introduction-the body-conclusion. I made every article to have a topic sentence and lots of support sentences. In the subway, on the way to school, in my spare time, I worked on it every day, revised it, and asked my friends for advice.
So to speak, Even though I did my best, I got a bad grade as a result. But through the class I could get a guide line I can use when I write an essay. Also I could figure out my lacks. First of all I found the lack of vocabulary. Even though I looked up the dictionary many times I only use limitative words. And the lack of story. I could find my writing habit which was just writing down the facts. Above and beyond these causes made my work "the lack of flow". Which readers cannot feel any interest. Remind it as a stepping stone; I will make greater efforts to fix these problems in this course.
I really admire your efforts to make an improvement! I could feel how much you tried. It's too bad that you couldn't get the scores you wanted in spite of hard efforts, but I'm sure that the weak points that you discovered through that course will greatly help improve your writing. I hope that by the end of this course we'll both have managed to get over our weak points!

ReplyDeleteI'd really like to hear more of your life story, so how about writing about your experience? That can be helpful because you're not a 'just' student! If you start to spin a yarn in writing, everyone will want to see your work.
